Over 1,000 Russian language teachers from 12 countries last year took part in advanced training programs organized by the Russian North Caucasus Federal University, Interfax reports.

The rector of the Russian university, Dmitry Bespalov, noted that participants in programs on the Russian language and its teaching methods included specialists from India, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, as well as a number of neighboring countries.

Last year, the University also organized over 60 events aimed at promoting the Russian language, culture and Russian education abroad. Forums organized by the university allowed young people from Russia and other countries to work together to solve pressing social problems.
