Mayor: 96% of Narva residents speak Russian

The vast majority of residents of Narva speak Russian, the BALTNEWS telegram channel reports. According to the mayor of the city, Jaan Toots, he has to speak Russian, since for 96% of the townspeople Russian is the language of communication.

The mayor of Narva assured that work in the mayor’s office is carried out in the state language.

According to the latest census, Narva retained its status as the most Russian city in Estonia. The study showed that 83% of city residents are Russian by nationality. Only 2% of Narva residents reported using Estonian in everyday life.
