The Days of Russian Language and Culture took place in Cote d’Ivoire, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports. The large-scale event was aimed at popularizing Russian education, promoting the Russian language and introducing Russian culture. It was organized by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

The event was held at the site of the Houphouet-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute in the capital of the African country. It aroused great interest among the university administration, students and teachers.

According to Russian Ambassador Alexei Saltykov, Moscow is interested in strengthening cooperation in the educational and scientific spheres with African countries. He noted that young people on the continent are studying the Russian language and are getting more interested in Russian universities.

In October, the Center for Open Education in Russian began working in Côte d’Ivoire. It appeared in Abidjan, the largest city in the African country.
