A parish in one of the cities of Mozambique has joined the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), the telegram channel of the head of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Metropolitan Leonid, reports.

Previously, the parish of the Church of Alexandria operated in Beira but it was closed after 2019. The people abandoned by the Greek church wanted to preserve Orthodoxy, so they turned to the ROC.

During a meeting with Priest Georgy Maximov, they discussed further measures aimed at restoring the life of the church community. There was also a meeting with young people who are interested in Orthodoxy. One of the young people was baptized.

An important topic was the discussion of cooperation between the ROC and Mungassa Primary School. It is being restored by the Africa Development Group. It is planned that children will learn Russian at the school.
