Russia will appeal against the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which accused the country of fraud with athletes’ doping samples, in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of members of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA). The Russian Olympic Committee also intends to take part in the trial as a third party, TASS reports.

On December, 9, WADA banned Russia from major international competitions for four years, while Russian athletes were forbidden to perform under the national flag. The RUSADA representatives disagreed with this decision.

The only way to defend the rights of Russian sports is to appeal to CAS, the independent sports court. In the past, Russia has repeatedly won cases at CAS, including on charges of taking doping by one or another athlete.

The head of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov said that there are no obstacles to the participation of Russian athletes in the 2020 Summer Olympics, and the committee will fight to ensure that athletes compete under the Russian flag.

RUSADA considers the arguments in favor of Russia's innocence to be weighty and evidence-based. In addition, experts pointed out that the changes in the database of the Moscow laboratory, blamed on Russia, were made remotely by the ex-head of the laboratory Grigory Rodchenkov.
