The A.S. Pushkin and Nazim Hikmet Culture and Art Center started its work in Ankara, Rossotrudnichestvo reports. The Ankara House of Turkish-Russian Friendship opened the Center with the participation of Rossotrudnichestvo office. The representatives of Russian and Belarusian embassies, scientific communities and intellectuals of Turkey and Russia attended the opening ceremony.

The Center was established to broaden humanitarian bonds between Saint Petersburg and Turkey. Guests of the opening ceremony attended a special concert performed by a pianist Diana Vasilieva and singer Maria Kolesnikova from Saint Petersburg. The exposition of paintings by artists from Turkey, Russia and CIS countries was launched for the Center opening.

Nazim Hikmet was a Turkish communist, poet, playwright, screenwriter, director and social activist. The Center is located at the Ishak Aga mansion in the historic district of Ankara. This building was a hospital during the war of liberation in Turkey in 1920-1924, and the doctors from Soviet Russia worked there along with the locals.

The Ankara House of Turkish-Russian Friendship is located at the same building nearby the Saint Petersburg Square.
