Screenings of new Russian films Serf-2 and The Bremen Town Musicians were cancelled in Canada. Russian compatriots living in Canada believe that representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora have something to do with it and accuse local cinemas of discrimination based on nationality, the press service of organizations of Russian compatriots of Canada reports.

These films collected record box offices in Russian cinemas during New Year holidays, but compatriots living in Canada will not be able to watch new films on the big screen.

The screenings were scheduled to start at Imagine Cinemas in Toronto on January, 12, and many viewers purchased tickets, but the shows were cancelled. The cinema returned the money for tickets and apologized to the audience.

Russian compatriots in Canada are actively discussing this situation and see in the cancellation the influence of the local Ukrainian diaspora, which opposes screenings of Russian films in the country.
