Russian musicians won the 's-Hertogenbosch Creative Vocal Competition (IVC) in the Netherlands, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. It is considered one of the most authoritative in the world and almost as difficult. Russia was represented by students of the Moscow Conservatory - soprano Daria Brusova and pianist Mark Vaza.

Despite the crisis, which is worsening in the international arena, and attempts to cancel Russian culture, the organizers approved the application of Russian performers.

The IVC was held for the 56th time, the competition will soon celebrate its 70th anniversary. Over the years, it launched the successful careers of many classical vocal stars. Among them is Ruzanna Lisitsian, who is a teacher at the Bolshoi Theater Youth Opera Program, which trained this year’s winners.

The rules of the competition change every year. One year the singers compete in an opera program, and the next year in the chamber-vocal duet format (LiedDuo).

Daria Brusova and Mark Vaza perfromed 18 romance songs by Russian and foreign composers in four languages. The performances were evaluated by an international jury, which included no Russian representatives.

The judges refused to award the first prize. The German-South Korean duo Marie Majdowski and Yonsob Chung shared second place with the Russians.

In addition, Mark Vase received the Rudolf Jansen Prize. It is used to recognize the best pianist of the competition.
