Ukrainian police have begun storming the buildings of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, RIA Novosti reports. The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) said that police officers armed with machine guns cordoned off buildings 54, 57 and 58 of the monastery. They have already cut the locks and broke into building No. 57. Pilgrims and monks live there, the UOC added.

The day before, representatives of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) entered the sealed buildings of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Without waiting for permission, they tore off the seal put by the administration of the monastery. Parishioners are not allowed into the buildings.

Together with the guards, the schismatics began to take out the furniture from the office of the head of the UOC.

Earlier, the Kiev court did not find violations of the law in the fact that the Ministry of Culture had terminated the lease agreement for the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra with the UOC.
