The Latvian authorities have decided to partially resume issuing visas to Russian citizens, applications will be considered in a special manner, the BALTNEWS telegram channel reports.

Riga assessed the security situation and consulted with partners. As a result, a decision was made to resume accepting visa applications from Russians from July, 4. Documents can be submitted in foreign diplomatic and consular representations of Latvia.

Family members of citizens and non-citizens of Latvia, relatives of citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland will be able to come to the Baltic country. Guests will also be allowed into the republic for humanitarian reasons - for example, to attend a funeral or in the event of a serious illness of a loved one. Such applications will be considered on an individual basis.

Since June, 26, Latvia stopped accepting documents from Russians for obtaining all types of visas. Riga explained its decision by the fact that events inside Russia have an unpredictable development. The Latvian authorities also promised to consider all documents submitted until June, 25.
