The Polish prosecutor's office withdrew funds from the bank accounts of the Russian embassy and trade mission, RIA Novosti reports. According to Russian Ambassador Sergei Andreev, he was informed that the money had been transferred to the accounts of the prosecutor's office. Then the bank announced that it had broken off cooperation with the diplomatic mission and closed the accounts.

The Ambassador added that the accounts held large sums not only in Polish currency, but also in US dollars. Sergei Andreev called this case a flagrant violation of international law. Prior to this, the Polish authorities froze the embassy's accounts, explaining that the money could allegedly be used to finance terrorism.

Poland has seized Russian diplomatic property more than once. Six months ago, Warsaw took away the recreation center from the embassy. The administration terminated the lease due to "non-payment". The embassy noted that they could not transfer the money for the rent, since the accounts of the diplomatic mission were frozen by the country's authorities. A year ago, the authorities seized the building at 100 Sobieski Street - the house was the diplomatic property of the Russian Federation.

Russia will certainly respond to the actions of Warsaw, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, promised.
