Rachmaninov Youth Competition application deadline is today

Today is the deadline for submission of entries for the First International Youth Piano Competition named after Sergey Rachmaninoff, Classicalnews.ru reports.

The competition to be held in March 21-26. This year marks 150th anniversary of Rachmaninov's birth. The contest to take place in Veliky Novgorod, the composer’s native region.

The competition to be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Musicians aged 10 to 18 at the time of the start of the competition can participate.

The Official opening of the first International Youth Piano Competition named after Rachmaninov is scheduled for March 21 at the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic hall. The artistic director and the jury chairman is the pianist Denis Matsuev. The jury will include prominent figures of Russian and foreign culture and famous musicians.
