The Russian Embassy in the UK has criticized a piece in the well-known English newspaper The Guardian, which calls for a ban on Russian culture. The diplomatic mission noted that the text by the Ukrainian Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko contains a substitution of facts and is an attempt to mislead the reader, TASS reports.

The Russian diplomatic mission called the article "unscrupulous" and expressed regret that the Guardian allowed itself to publish a piece that ignored the facts about Russia and deceived readers.

The embassy recalled that the Ukrainian minister demands a boycott of Russian culture, and this goes against the generally accepted belief that culture is free from politics. The diplomatic mission stressed that Moscow had declared many times that it was not an enemy to the Ukrainian people, but is opposed to the Russophobic nationalist regime.

The embassy noted that Kyiv's desire to abolish Russian culture, of which Ukraine had been a part for many centuries, testifies to the fallacy of the path chosen by the Ukrainian authorities. The diplomatic mission said that Russia would continue to protect national interests, as well as its culture and identity.
