A special project of the ARTIGIONATO E PALAZZO exhibition in Florence has been dedicated to the Russian cultural heritage, Revizor.ru reports.

The exhibition center, designed for the masters of traditional folk crafts, celebrates its anniversary this year. It turns 25 years old. The center aims to strengthen, preserve and develop the applied arts associated with the Italian and foreign cultural traditions.

The Russian footprints in Florence campaign is aimed at raising funds for the restoration of Russian heritage monuments in this Italian city. Anyone wishing to help in this noble cause can make a contribution until the end of May.

Florence remained a place of attraction for many figures of Russian culture. Russian writers and artists worked there, including director Andrei Tarkovsky, artist Karl Bryullov, classics of great Russian literature Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nobel laureate Joseph Brodsky. The dynasty of industrialists and patrons of the Demidovs more than once allocated money, financing the construction of architectural monuments. At the end of the 19th century, on the orders of the daughter of Nicholas I, an Orthodox church was built in the city, which now needs restoration, as well as a cemetery with many Russian graves.

Excursions dedicated to the Russian footprints in Florence are organized within the frames of the exhibition. The participants, in particular, will see the house where the great composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky wrote his opera The Queen of Spades.
