Gergiev performs Wagner in Vienna

Vienna Philharmonic will perform Wagner's Parsifal under the baton of Valery Gergiev, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports. Following the tradition this opera is always played in Austria every the spring before the Pasqua. Plot of this music drama is directly connected with Christian symbols. The day before Mariinsky soloists, choir and orchestra with Valery Gergiev have performed this opera in Moscow. Valery Gergiev have returned Parsifal to the Russian stage. The premier has happened 20 years ago. Gergiev's interpretation was internationally recognized in music world, the Mariinsky label recording was nominated for Grammy.
