Russian-Austrian Choral Vienna Festival opens for sixth time

Ten concerts with Austrian and Russian singers will be held during the Choral Vienna Festival, which opens on April 30 for the sixth time. The concerts will be held in Orthodox and Catholic cathedrals, as well as in one of the central squares of the Austrian capital. The entrance to all concerts is free, the Russian Embassy in Austria reports on its website. 

The festival will open with a concert in St. Peter’s Cathedral, the Contrast Choir of Moscow Pedagogical University and MeloSol Youth Choir from Vienna are going to perform in it. The Academic Choir of Moscow State University and the April Choir from Perm are going to take the stage in the same cathedral as well as in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas (cathedral church of the Vienna diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church) on May 1-5. 

Two more concerts will be timed to the celebration of Victory Day. They will be held at the Schwarzenbergplatz square in Vienna. Choral and folk groups from Russia and Austria will hold a concert and a meeting of the festival participants and Russian compatriots in Austria near the monument to the Soldier-Liberator on May 5. The choirs will also perform in front of the procession of the Immortal Regiment on May 9.
