$400 million allocated for Russian scientists

Russian Science Foundation is to budget 400 million dollars for scientific grants, according to TASS. Prioritised directions are biology, agriculture and fundamental medicine. 9 million will be allocated for their needs. This statement was made by General Director of the Russian Science Foundation Alexander Khlunov.

According to Alexander Khlunov, the foundation is supporting almost 2,5 thousand of scientific institutions. The total amount of finances is 385 million US dollars. However, in the nearest future the total budget will be extended by 15 million more.

As per Khlunov, now the priorities have been shifted and the bulk of financing goes to projects connected to human lives. Thus, scientists are searching for cure for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
