Ivan Turgenev exhibition opens in Madrid

Russian Center of Science and Culture opened the exhibition dedicated to Russian writer of 19th century Ivan Turgenev in Madrid on February 1st. The exhibition is supported by Russkiy Mir Foundation. Photographs and letters from The State A.S.Pushkin Museum museum collection present day-to-day life of the writer, his relations with French-Spanish singer Pauline Viardot, his literary taste and hobbies.

“ Turgenev is thought to be an 'Ambassador of Russian intelligentsia' on the West, a link between Russia and Europe in 19th century. Well-educated, multilingual, charming and talented, he is a part of Russian-European history,” - shared the exhibition's curators.

Ivan Turgenev. The Russian European exhibit is timed with 200th writer's anniversary. International Turgenev program is going to last for a year. It is prepared by The State A.S.Pushkin Museum with a help of Russkiy Mir Foundation and Rossotrudnichestvo.

Ivan Turgenev. The Russian European exhibition will be moved later to other destinations. During this year, it will travel around the Europe, CIS countries, and China.
