The Virtus.pro team, representing Russia at the Rainbow Six Siege shooter tournament, was disqualified, RIA Novosti reports. As the athletes themselves said, the reason was their nationality.

Virtus.pro consists of five people. The team received an invitation to the tournament, but after it began it was suspended from participation.

Members of the Russian team spoke about blunt discrimination, which cannot be ignored.

This is not the first time that Russian esports athletes have faced discrimination based on nationality and another attempt to cancel Russian achievements in sports. The Russian Team Spirit, which won the last Dota 2 world championship, was not included in the list of nominees for the title of the best e-sports team on the planet. Among the contenders is the team that lost to the Russians in the final of the world championship, which ended at the end of October.
