15th Russian World Assembly took place in Moscow

On November 3, 2023, on the eve of National Unity Day, the Russkiy Mir Foundation held the 15th Russian World Assembly. 

The aim of the forum is to discuss the problems of preserving the values, ideals, basic principles of the Russian World, promote the Russian language and enhance cultural and historical heritage in a changing world.

Representatives of the Russian World from 77 countries came to Moscow to take part in the forum. 


Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, Advisor to the President of Russia Vladimir Tolstoy opened the ceremonial meeting. ''I want to thank everyone personally for coming and being in this room, for being part of this great and beautiful Russian world,'' he said. Vladimir Tolstoy read out a greeting from the President of Russia, in which he welcomed the guests of the assembly from different countries and expressed his conviction that the current forum would contribute to the development of international humanitarian cooperation.


Chairman of the Board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Vyacheslav Nikonov welcomed everyone who was not afraid to come to the 15th Assembly of the Russian World. ''You are a huge world, you represent the whole universe of the Russian world,'' he addressed those present in the hall.

He read out greetings to the participants of the assembly from the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin.

The assembly brought together Russian language teachers from leading foreign universities; researchers of Russian literature; translators; public figures; cultural and scientific figures; journalists and bloggers who write and broadcast in Russian; diplomats; heads of organizations of Russian compatriots living abroad; representatives of the clergy and youth communities. Many participated in this forum for the first time.

On November 3, a plenary session entitled ''The Mission of the Russian Word in a Multipolar World'' was held within the assembly, as well as round table discussions ''How to increase interest in studying the Russian language abroad?'', ''Russian literature as a conductor of traditional universal values'' and ''International movement of Russophiles: popularization Russian language and culture.''

On the next day, the assembly participants took a trip to the VDNKh exhibition center, Kolomna, and watched the Uncle Vanya play at the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theater.
