34 children aged 4 to 16, including those born in Syria, have returned to Russia from refugee camps thanks to the efforts of the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, RIA Novosti reports. The plane carrying them landed at Chkalovsky airfield on the previous night. Maria Lvova-Belova emphasized that efforts to locate and bring back more children will persist.

Young Russians were brought back with the assistance of the Russian military stationed in Syria. Accompanied by doctors from Russian medical institutions, the children will undergo further medical examinations in Moscow. Subsequently, they will be handed over to relatives in ten different regions across Russia.

The ombudsman said that most of the children are in good health, some of them have infectious diseases, as well as difficulties with internal organs and injuries. They will be treated after examination.

Maria Lvova-Belova mentioned that documents for over 150 children are ready, and Russia anticipates bringing another group of young Russians back home soon.

Let us remember, that Lvova-Belova is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on a false accusation of illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.
