The German authorities are rehabilitating Nazism in an attempt to manipulate history, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said. Maria Zakharova, the MFA official representative, argues that double standards are at play, and it's time to stop being surprised by such developments.

Zakharova points out Berlin's apparent lack of evidence regarding the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists - Ukrainian Insurgent Army (OUN-UPA) involvement in civilian extermination during World War II. The German government dismisses such claims, stating that only the media reports on it and denies knowledge of Ukrainian nationalists collaborating with the Nazis or Kiev glorifying collaborators through monuments and street names.

The German Cabinet of Ministers is also unaware that the Institute of National Remembrance has established a Heroes' Day, which is now celebrated on May 23. And this date is directly linked to the OUN.

The government's response to a request from the Left Party faction in the Bundestag has sparked criticism. Sevim Dagdelen, a party leader, views the government's communication as clear evidence of a degradation in the fight against right-wing radicalism. According to Dagdelen, Berlin refuses to acknowledge Holocaust research conclusions and ignores the glorification of civilian extermination initiators in Ukraine.
Maria Zakharova asserts that that this way Nazism is being rehabilitated through the manipulation of historical facts, blatant falsification of concepts, denial of the conclusions of the Nuremberg Tribunal. All this leads to the arming of neo-Nazis in Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry advised members of the German government to familiarize themselves with the Ukrainian Nationalists and the Holocaust. Participation of OUN and UPA in the extermination of Ukrainian Jewry, 1941-1944 book, published two years ago in the US. Its author John-Paul Khimki is a historian from Canada of Ukrainian descent.

The materials of the research center at the American Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial complex, are also available to all interested parties. There are also many authentic documents in German, the RMFA spokeswoman added.
