Russian musicians once again performed at the Great Wall of China, TASS reports. The concert of the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra took place the day before, on June, 22. The concert site was equipped near one of the most famous sights of China. The stage was set against the backdrop of Badaling, a mountain range, where the part of the wall closest to Beijing is built.

Wu Qiong, a well-known bayan player from China, took the stage with Russian musicians. Together they performed Yevgeny Rodygin's melody "Oh, curly mountain ash." The performer called it a great honor to have the opportunity to perform with the famous band. And the concert itself, in her opinion, has become a beautiful symbol of the interweaving of cultures of both countries.

The concert program includes works by Russian and Chinese composers. Borodin's Polovtsian Dances and Alyabyev's Nightingale were performed. Russian opera soloist Albina Shagimuratova and Hong Kong tenor Warren Mock sang "Drinking Song" from Verdi's La Traviata. Among the performers was the young Russian pianist Ivan Bessonov. He played the 4th movement of Yin Chengzong's Yellow River Piano Concerto. The 3rd movement of the First Piano Concerto and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture were also performed.

The open-air concert was attended by about 1,000 despite boiling weather.

Earlier, works by Russian composers were performed in China under the open sky on June, 2 by the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra. The place at the conductor's stand was taken by maestro Valery Gergiev.
