13,000 young Russians are going to visit the Artek recreation center this summer, TASS reports. More than 1,000 children from 50 other countries will join them.

According to the center's director, Konstantin Fedorenko, the facility is 100% ready dor the summer season. Children from the DPR and LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will also come spend time there this summer. In total, twice as many children from new regions will have a rest there as compared to a year ago.

Last year, after a two-year break, the children's center received almost 1,500 children from 35 countries.

Artek used to be a famous pioneer camp founded on the Black Sea coast in 1925. When Crimea returned to Russia, the center became federal property. At the same time, a large-scale reconstruction of Artek began. Now all the main work has already been completed. It is planned that by its centennial anniversary, the number of children who have rested in the camp will exceed two million.
