Russian diplomats honored the memory of Soviet soldiers who died in World War II. The wreath-laying ceremony took place at military cemeteries, as well as at the monuments to the Red Army in Berlin and Cottbus, according to the Russkoe Pole newspaper.

The employees of the Russian Embassy and the Trade Representation of Russia laid wreaths at memorial steles at Soviet military burials in the Marzahn district of Berlin. Employees of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Germany held a wreath-laying ceremony at the Soviet military cemetery in Cottbus.

619 Soviet soldiers were buried at the cemetery in Cottbus. They died in the battles for the liberation of the land of Brandenburg a few weeks before the surrender of Nazi Germany.

Earlier in April, Russian compatriots held a cleanup at Dusseldorf cemeteries, where Russian and Soviet soldiers who died during the First and Second World Wars were buried.
