All-Argentinean competition of Russian poetry final round held in Buenos Aires

The final of the fifth All-Argentinean Native Rhymes competition of readers of Russian poetry took place in Buenos Aires. In 2019, more than 70 children from Russian-speaking and Argentinean families took part in the competition, it is a record in the history of the competition, the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

The final of the competition was held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Buenos Aires. According to the organizers, the number of participants is growing from year to year, young Russian compatriots and Argentines studying Russian language show great interest in participating. Readers from the capital and several provinces participated in Native Rhymes of 2019.

At the preliminary stage, the skill of the participants was evaluated by the submitted videos, while in the final the readers got the opportunity to personally demonstrate their skills. The jury included journalists, poets, translators and actors. They paid attention not only to reading skills, but also to the level of knowledge of the Russian language. A special page of the contest was composed by the poems of Mikhail Lermontov and Anna Akhmatova, whose anniversaries were celebrated in the past year.
