Media freedom issues discussed at Prague International media forum

The international media forum opened on Wednesday, November 20, in the Czech capital. Its main theme is freedom of journalism in the context of human rights, new technologies and international information security.

Representatives of the media, scientists, political experts, diplomats, lawyers, media experts from many countries from around the world gathered in Prague. About eighty experts discuss the problems that are most acute in the field of modern media today.

The delegates came from 25 countries, from the UK and Canada to Hong Kong and Algeria.

Maria Mokhovikova, spokeswoman for the Russkiy Mir Foundation, took part in the discussions.

Participants talked about the readiness of the media to reflect the new reality within the session called Modern Journalism in the Conditions of a New Ideological Multipolarity. The meeting was opened by the editor-in-chief of the Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn magazine Armen Oganesyan. Alexey Gromyko made a presentation on the Liberalism is Dead, Long Live Liberalism? discussion panel.

The internet and new information technologies have provided mankind with an ocean of opportunities, which at the same time is fraught with many threats. The issues of cybersecurity in modern media and other issues will be discussed by the participants in Information and Communication Technologies in the Context of the Media session.
