Famous Russian opera singers performed arias from operas of Russian and foreign composers at the musical night held in Musikverein Vienna Philharmonic Society. The concert was timed to the upcoming Day of Russia, TASS reports.

The musical evening was organized by famous opera singer, Honored Artist of Russia Marina Mescheryakova, supported by Russian Embassy in Austria and Russian Center for Science and Culture in Vienna.

The audience heard arias from Prince Igor, Khovanshchina, The Queen of Spades and other operas performed by Elena Maximova, Elena Mihailenko and Ivan Gingazov.

Russian performers presented scenes from operas to the accompaniment of a piano. In addition to the classics of the 19th century, Isaac Dunaevsky's March of Enthusiasts sounded. According to Marina Meshcheryakova, the purpose of the evening was the demonstration of a unifying point of music. The organizer of the evening is convinced that with the help of the classics it is possible to forge relations between Russians and Europeans, by defeating the political situation.

Another goal of the concert was the spiritual support of compatriots living in Austria. According to Marina Meshcheryakova, musical nights will be held annually and will cover other regions of Austria.
