Head of Russian diplomatic mission in South Africa Mikhail Petrakov opened a photo exhibition in Johannesburg,TASS reports. The Leitmotifs of Reality exposition includes pictures taken by the diplomat. It is located in the studio gallery at the Market Theater.

According to the ambassador, Russian diplomats are often addicted to art. This list includes the author of the Woe from Wit comedy Alexander Griboyedov, Fyodor Tyutchev, who became famous for his lyric. Andrey Razumovsky, who worked in Vienna, was friends with Beethoven, who dedicated his works to him. The diplomat loved to play the violin. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov writes poems.

Mikhail Petrakov chose photography as his creative hobby and has already reached heights in it. He is experimenting a lot with the technology of shooting and digital image processing. This exhibition is not the first for the ambassador. His works were presented in Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in honor of the quarter-century anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moscow and South Africa. Ambassador’s photos were exhibited in South Africa twice. His new works are on the border between photography and fine art.

Mikhail Petrakov admitted that circumstances forced him to stop at the artistic processing of the photographs. He noted that it’s very difficult to combine his day job and hobby. One of his favorite shooting objects is Russian Orthodox church in Midrand. A series of works depicting its appearance and interior decoration is presented at the exhibition.
