The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) breach threatens world security, warns Moscow in a draft resolution proposed to the UN General Assembly. The document, aimed at supporting the INF Treaty states that the parties should hold consultations on its preservation, TASS reports.

The authors of the project propose to urge the parties to preserve it and recall that the treaty is the central element in maintaining global stability.

The INF Treaty parties call for "renewing efforts to preserve and strengthen the treaty through its full and strict implementation" and voice hope for dialogue for further progress in reducing nuclear weapons.

In the draft resolution, the General Assembly invites the parties to the agreement to make step towards confidence increase in order to carry out the INF Treaty and minimize the possibility of its misinterpretation or misunderstanding.

Any measures that violate the provisions of the INF Treaty also undermine stability and security in the world and in the regions.

The document also calls on all UN member states to support nuclear non-proliferation efforts. It also asks the General Assembly to support the actions of the international community to save the INF Treaty.

Russia proposes to consider the resolution at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.

According to Russkiy Mir, a few days ago Washington announced its withdraw from the treaty after US Presidents Donald trump accused Russia of agreement violation.
