Meetings in Russia theater festival opens in St. Petersburg

Meetings in Russia, the 20th International Festival of Russian Theaters from the CIS and Baltic Countries opens in the Northern Capital. Russian-language theaters from near and far abroad bring their shows to the stage of The Baltic House Theatre-Festival. The anniversary program is dedicated to Russian classical writers in contemporary interpretation.

As we reported earlier, participants of the Meetings with Russia festival are to be reminded about FIFA World Cup 2018 that will be held this summer n Russia in two months, writes Metro newspaper. It's slogan is “2:0 in our favour!”

The theater n.a. Chingiz Aitmatov from Kyrgyz capital will show Lermontov's poem Demon. Maxim Gorky Theater from Astana will present Eugene Onegin by Pushkin, Kazakhstan theater will play Gogol's "The Inspector General",

Russian, Georgian, Latvian, Moldavian, Estonian, Israeli , Kazakh theaters will compete for the awards. By the way the biggest number of Russian theaters in CIS countries can be found in Kazakhstan.

The special project called Love Russian Style! Is based on monologues from the famous Russian writer's pieces. Young actors from 6 countries are engaged in the project. They are currently rehearsing under the direction of Leonid Alimov.
