Another day of the Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang has brought Russian sportsmen 7 awards, TASS informs. Thus, Russian athletes climbed the second place of the total medal count getting 5 gold and 5 silver medals together with 3 bronze ones.

Note that Ekaterina Rumyantseva of Russia won the women’s 10 km standing biathlon event.

Another Russian biathlonist Anna Milenina is just a bit behind her. Russian athlete Maria Zainullina completed the women’s 10km biathlon race as a silver medal – holder. Another Russian athlete Irina Gulyaeva was competing with her for the victory in sitting biathlon event. She closed the three leaders of the race.

Russian skier Mikhalina Lysova has won the gold medal in visually impaired sprint. In her opinion, she could win, but, probably, extreme tension had its effect as she was admitted for the competition at the last moment before the beginning of the Paralympics.

The first Paralympic gold was taken by national mountain ski team. Athlete from Russia Aleksei Bugaev has won the gold in the men’s Super Combined Slalom in Standing category. Valery Redkozubov became the bronze prize winner in the super giant slalom event among visually impaired athletes.

The team of Konstantin Kurokhtin took two victories in the wheelchair curling having left behind their rivals from Slovakia and UK. After 4 victories in 7 sets out of 11 possible, the neutral Paralympic team occupies 4th place.
