Russian national volleyball team won League of Nations second time in a row

Russian volleyball players became the winners of the League of Nations, which was held in Chicago. In the final, the Russians beat the hosts with a score of 3-1. Russian team won the first League of Nations in 2018, which replaced the World League, TASS reports.

Russians began the decisive game of the international tournament with a victory in the first set. In the second set, the Americans were able to level the score, but in the remaining two games the guests brought the game to victory. In the group stage of the Final Six, the Russian team lost to the hosts of the competition with a score of 0:3.

The League of Nations started on May 31. Within a month, sixteen teams played games according to the “all with all” formula. As a result, six teams met in the Chicago finals. In the semifinals, Russians beat Polish team, which won bronze medals in the tournament.

The League of Nations appeared in world volleyball in 2018. Before that, the international tournament uniting the leading volleyball teams of the planet was called the World League for 27 years. Over the years, Russian national team became the winner of prestigious competitions three times.
