It was approved by the majority of representatives from more than one hundred thirty countries. The United States of America voted against the resolution. Traditionally, Ukraine supported the United States. Unfortunately, almost fifty countries including a larger part of European Union members, Turkey, Canada, Georgia and Moldova refrained.

The authors of the resolution are deeply concerned by facts of Nazis glorification in separate countries and attempts to destroy and dismantle monuments in honor of fighters against fascism.

A month ago, the draft of resolution was reviewed at the hearing of Third Committee of UN General Assembly, when the American party proposed to delete a clause about frequent facts of desecration and destruction of military memorials and monuments, however this proposition was declined.

The resolution’s authors turned attention of UN countries to growing popularity of radical parties in some countries having noted that some of them are present in parliaments already. UN General Assembly called for unacceptability of WWII outcome’s reconsideration.
