Sotheby's puts on auctions USSR space exploration objects

20.07.2017

10 space exploration objects are on Sotheby's auction today, July 20 in the Great Britain capital. This date was chosen for a reason. Exactly on this date 48 years ago American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Baz Oldrin have landed on the moon, TASS reports.

The document on Gagarin record will go under the hammer as well. It is written in English and printed on the Chkalov Central Air Force club form. It is an official paper with the first Space record registration. The photograph of the first man in cosmos dressed in space suit is attached to this document. This paper had to be forwarded to International Aviation Federation. The preliminary price is 80 thousand dollars.

Paintings of Aleksey Leonov, the first open space cosmonaut, and fantasy artwork Satellite Flight by Andrey Smirnov will be on auction as well.

Besides the full-size models of the First Soviet Satellite of Vostok-1 spaceship, Luna-9 unmanned station and Souz launcher with autographs of Soviet cosmonauts are to be presented on Sotheby's.

Neil Armstrong's bag with lunar samples on the Apollon-11 lunar module landing is going to be of great interest for collectors as well.
