Yalta hosted an opening ceremony of the 32nd US President Franklin D. Roosevelt monument, as per RIA Novosti. Yalta mayor Andrey Rostenko addressed the citizens and city guests with the message that Roosevelt monument is built up in commemoration of President’s merits for the victory over Fascism and for keeping peace.

It is noteworthy that the monument to President was made in the middle of the last century and was kept in the museum stocks unestablished for obvious reasons. Franklin D. Roosevelt participated in 1945 Yalta Conference devoted to future of Europe and post-war world order decisions. His monument opening coincided with celebration of the Day of Roosevelt Street.

Andrey Rostenko acknowledged that citizens initiated this idea and he gladly supported it, promising to renovate the Roosevelt Street in future and turn it into one of the coziest streets in the city.
