The poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko has died

Interpress//TASSFamous Soviet and Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko has died of heart failure at the age of 84. According to the widow, he died peacefully in his sleep. 

One of the most significant representatives of artists-sixties generation during the Khrustchev Thaw, he was the last surviving poet who came to prominence more than half-century ago. 

Yevtushenko is the most known as the author of poem Babi Yar on Holocaust massacre, that was later used by Dmitry Schostakovich for his 13th symphony. 

In the mid-1990s, Yevtushenko moved to the United States, where he taught Russian and European poetry and the history of world cinema at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma. 

The date and the place of the funerals of the cult Russian poet will be acknowledged later.
