Sergey Yesenin center opened in China

Ekaterina Grub//wikimedia.orgChinese-Russian Learning Center started working within Changchun University, Jilin province in Northeast China. This center is named after great Russian poet Sergey Yesenin, TASS informs.

The project was initiated by Ryazan State University named for S. Yesenin, and the State Museum-Reserve of Sergey Yesenin. The center opening was a result of long-term cooperation between Russian and Chinese Universities

According to Changchun University rector Pan Fulin new center will promote Russian cultural traditions among young Chinese. Also it will help strengthening connections between two countries.

Seven years ago Changchun University established Confucius Institute at Ryazan State University. After that the initiative to open Yesenin Centre at Changchun University was realized. Yesenin Centre received very big collection of books, audio and video materials related to the Russian poet of the Silver Age.

The center is planned to become the main spot for events connected with Russian literature and Russian culture in general.
