Film from Somalia wins grand prix at Message to Man Film Festival

The results of the Message to Man film festival were summed up the day before, on October, 27, TASS reports. Somali director Mo Harawe won the main prize for the ''Will My Parents Come to See Me?'' movie.

Russian cinematographer Vladimir Eisner was recognized as the best director for the ''Twilight'' documentary. Special prizes were awarded to ''Fragments From Heaven'' by Moroccan Adnane Barak and ''The Bitch'' by Carla Melo Gumpert, an animation film co-produced by Colombia and France.

The best in the Russian documentary film competition were ''Suggested Circumstances'' by Nikita Efimov, ''Circus'' by Yana Reinson, ''Lyonechka'' by Renata Djalo and ''Mama America'' by Anna Shveygolts.

According to jury member, director Alexei Uchitel, this year the number of spectators broke all records. Almost 10,000 people attended the screenings. It is gratifying, he added, that the festival has become a point of attraction for filmmakers from all over the world.

According to a tradition that has existed for almost 35 years, the festival was hosted by St. Petersburg. The program included almost 190 films from 44 countries.
