By the beginning of the academic year in 2025, a new system of higher education will be introduced in Russian universities, the Ministry of Education and Science announced. According to the deputy head of the department, Dmitry Afanasyev, a model of the system will already be ready at that time, RIA Novosti reports. New educational standards will also be developed and approved.

The Deputy Minister noted that the difference between the new standards and those existing today is that they will be developed not for each individual area of education, but for expanded groups of specialties. In turn, this will allow for greater flexibility of educational programs.

This academic year, more than 4,000 people began studying as part of the pilot project. All state-funded places are filled. More than 250 people enrolled on a fee-paying basis

Testing of the new system of Russian higher education began on September, 1. Several universities are taking part in it. They will develop educational standards, requirements for educational levels and postgraduate programs. They will also set the training deadlines.

The head of the Russian Government, Mikhail Mishustin, instructed the relevant departments to analyze the results and take them into account when preparing the campaign for next year.
