The International anti-fascist forum opens on Tuesday, September, 12, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports. It will take place within two days.

Traditionally, the forum is timed to coincide with the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Fascism, which is celebrated on the second Sunday of September. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1962. The department noted that the date was chosen because September coincided with two main dates of World War II. It began on September 1, 1939 and ended on September 3, 1945. On this day, the world commemorates the feat of fallen soldiers and officers, home front workers, who also became victims of that war. They pay tribute to the memory of millions of people who died in fascist concentration camps and ghettos.

In Russia this day is special. The country, a successor to the Soviet Union, lost tens of millions of its citizens in World War II.

The organizers of the forum are the International Union of Former Juvenile Prisoners of Fascism, the Russian Union of Former Juvenile Prisoners of Fascism and other Russian public associations. The forum was held for the first time in 2020.

The program will begin with a commemorative ceremony at the Tragedy of Nations memorial. It is located on Poklonnaya Hill.

Among the participants are representatives of veteran and youth organizations, government bodies, parliamentarians, clergy of various religions, foreign diplomats, Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, and many others. Guests from the CIS countries, European countries and other regions of the world will join the forum online.

The forum, which is held under the ''Remember the past - think about the future'' motto, will once again remind that the threat of fascism is once again facing the world. At the event, the Organizing Committee will present a report on contemporary manifestations of fascism in the world, raise the topic of rewriting history, and also discuss issues of providing legal assistance to victims of fascism and the patriotic education of the younger generation.
