St. Petersburg hosted a film location tour for producers and directors from Iran and the CIS countries. Following the tour, they got interested in filming in Russia and joint film projects, according to the website of the Russian Ministry of Culture.
The organizer of the tour was ROSKINO with the support of the Ministry of Culture. Film producers and directors from Iran, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus and a number of other CIS countries arrived in Russia.
Foreign filmmakers were introduced to places in St. Petersburg that can be used for filming. The tour included visits to historical streets and squares, as well as palaces, train stations, forts of Kronstadt and much more.
In addition, issues of cooperation with Russian colleagues were discussed within the framework of the 4th International Festival of New Fiction and Documentary Films of Russia and CIS Countries Lendoc Film Festival (LEFF) 2023.
The tour received favorable reviews from guests of St. Petersburg. Iranian director Mehdi Fard Ghaderi noted the special atmosphere of the Russian city (''as if you are inside a painting''), which allows you to shoot films of different genres in St. Petersburg locations - from melodramas to thrillers.
Producer from Tajikistan Akmal Akhmad Abdullozoda outlined a number of locations for future filming. According to him, work is currently underway on three joint projects with Russian colleagues.
Deputy head of the Uzbekistan Cinematography Agency Shukhrat Rezaev noted that the capabilities of St. Petersburg allow the implementation of any creative projects.
