Residents of Niger began to sew Russian flags, the RT in Russian telegram channel reports.

According to a tailor who works in the capital of the African country, in the few days that have passed since the coup, he has already sewed several dozen Russian tricolors.

Another person called himself a "fan of the Russian tricolor." He bought fabric to sew his own Russian flag.

On July, 26, a group of military men removed from power the country's president, Mohamed Bazum, who adhered to a pro-Western course. France, which has a contingent of 1,500 soldiers in Niger, announced the suspension of budgetary support for the country, and the European Union announced the termination of cooperation with Niger in the field of security. The African Union has given the military in Niger two weeks to restore "constitutional authority".

Thousands of people took part in a rally held at the French embassy in Niamey. Many were holding Niger flags and Russian tricolors, and shouted ''Down with France!'', ''Long live Russia!''.

Speakers noted that it was time to get rid of the French colonizers. "It's time to break free," said one of the protesters.
