The Russian Foreign Ministry called the sanctions imposed against Russia by the European Union illegitimate. According to Russian diplomats, these actions are contrary to international law, and undermine the prerogatives of the UN Security Council.

The MFA warned that every unfriendly action by Western countries would receive a timely and adequate response.

As a retaliatory step, Moscow expanded the list of representatives of European structures and states that are members of the EU, which are prohibited from entering Russian territory.

The list includes representatives of law enforcement agencies, state and commercial organizations of the EU countries, citizens of EU member states involved in providing military assistance to the neo-Nazi Kyiv regime. This also applies to representatives of European structures responsible for imposing sanctions against Russia and trying to undermine Russia's relations with other states. Restrictions apply to EU parliamentarians who promote a confrontational agenda with Russia.

Russkiy Mir reported that on Friday, June 23, the European Union approved another anti-Russian sanctions package. The restrictions apply to almost 90 foreign companies that Brussels believes are providing support to Moscow. Among them are representatives of business from China, Armenia, Iran, Syria, as well as firms from the UAE.

Europe blacklisted more than 100 Russian citizens. Among them are Russian journalists, businessmen, military men. Sanctions were also imposed against some Russian media outlets.

In addition to other measures, the European Council included in the package of restrictions the so-called ''counter-bypass'' mechanism, which will allow the imposition of sanctions against third countries.
