International Festival of Russian Theaters starts in Naberezhnye Chelny

The International Festival of Russian Theaters begins on Wednesday, June, 21, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. The cultural forum will be held for the 5th time, it will last until June, 29. It is hosted by Naberezhnye Chelny. Theater troups from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, South Ossetia, Armenia, Abkhazia and Uzbekistan have gathered there. The actors will take the stage of the Russian Craftsmen Drama Theater.

The event is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Alexander Ostrovsky. The program includes five productions of plays by the great Russian playwright: ''The Snow Maiden. Not a fairy tale'', ''Opus 40. Dowry'', ''Handsome Man'', ''Balzaminov's Marriage'' and ''In a Crowded Place''.

The Stanislavsky Yerevan Russian Drama Theater, the Khetagurov South Ossetian State Drama Theater, the State Youth Theater of Uzbekistan, the Gorky National Drama Theater from Belarus, the Lermontov National Russian Drama Theater from Kazakhstan and the Iskander State Russian Drama Theater from Abkhazia participate in the review.

All performances will be streamed online. Lectures and master classes for heads and specialists of cultural institutions are planned within the festival.

The annual international festival was established on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and was held for the first time in the Year of the Theater, in 2019.
