Monument to Yuri Gagarin unveiled in Myanmar

A monument to Yuri Gagarin appeared in Myanmar, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports. The portrait monument of the first cosmonaut was placed in the Museum of Aerospace Engineering of the Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University, which is located in Meitkhila.

Students and teachers, government officials, local administration and other officials took part in the opening ceremony of the monument. It was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Myanmar. 

According to Russian Ambassador Nikolai Listopadov, the new monument indicates that cooperation between Russia and Myanmar has reached "cosmic" heights. The ambassador greeted the audience in Burmese with the legendary Gagarin phrase "Let's go."

At the end of the solemn ceremony, the guests of the university were invited to a tour of the museum.

Decades after the flight of the first man into space, monuments to Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin continue to be erected around the world. On the last Cosmonautics Day in Bolivia, a monument to the first cosmonaut was unveiled. He appeared at the Amachuma station, which is monitoring the satellites.

The Dialogue of Cultures - United World Charitable Foundation erected dozens of monuments to the cosmonaut in many countries of the world - from Argentina to China, from the USA to Australia. By the 60th anniversary of the first flight into space, the number of monuments approached 60, they were installed in 50 countries.
