Russian Orthodox Parish foundation 220th anniversary celebrated in Rome

The anniversary of the founding of the 1st Russian Orthodox parish was celebrated in the capital of Italy. In 2023, it turned 220 years old, according to the Korsun diocese. The celebrations were led by the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe. A festive divine service was timed to coincide with the anniversary in the local St. Nicholas Church. Numerous parishioners and pilgrims joined the service. Metropolitan Nestor congratulated the community on the holiday.

A round table discussion was dedicated to the anniversary date. It took place in the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, among its participants were Russian historians, members of the church council and the parish Assembly. They were joined by Russian diplomats, including the Russian ambassadors to the Vatican and Italy, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Rome, Daria Pushkova, and others.

The guests also took part in the opening ceremony of the parish museum. Its exhibits are historical documents and material evidence relating to more than two centuries of the history of the parish.
