MSU, SPBU and HSE University lead in RAEX subject ratings

Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) topped 12 subject rankings of Russian universities out of 35. The university entered the number of winners 19 times, of which four times it became the second, three times it closed the top three. The ratings are compiled by the RAEX agency for the 2nd time, TASS reports.

The lists include 164 universities from almost half of the Russian regions. St. Petersburg State University (SPBU) and the Higher School of Economics (HSE) became leaders along with MSU, they entered the top three ratings in more than ten areas.

Ural Federal University is included in 23 ratings, Far Eastern Federal University - in 22, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia - in 21.

Bauman Moscow State Technical University was recognized as the best engineering university. The university topped the rating in the electronics, radio engineering and communication system subject area, as well as equipment and technology of land transport.

MSU is leading in mathematics and natural sciences: physics, chemistry, biology and geography. The university is also a leader in the humanitarian sphere. It became the best in history and archeology, linguistics and foreign languages, and philology and journalism.

The HSE University leads in the social sciences, as the university scored the highest number of points in the rankings for economics, sociology, management and psychology.

Subject rankings of Russian universities take into account the assessments of the three missions of the university - educational, scientific, public. Only head universities were analyzed, branches of educational institutions were not considered.
