Russian athletes marched under the national flag at the opening ceremony of the Games of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA), RIA Novosti reports. It took place the day before, on April, 21, in the capital of Venezuela. The tricolor was carried by boxer Ivan Veryasov and Elizaveta Abrahamyan representing table tennis.

The Russian sportsmen were greeted by the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin and the Russian Ambassador to Venezuela Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov.

Earlier, the Russian flag was raised at the opening ceremony of the competition, on April, 19, at the National Institute of Sports of Caracas. The Russian anthem was played at the solemn event.

Russia is represented by almost 50 athletes. They will compete in seven sports: boxing, beach volleyball, karate, table tennis, trampolining, rhythmic gymnastics and weightlifting.
