More than 285,000 foreigners obtained Russian citizenship in six months

Over 285,000 foreigners have become Russian citizens in six months of 2022, TASS reports. From January to June, the number of persons who were granted Russian citizenship amounted to 287,503 people.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that over the same period, over eight million foreigners and stateless persons were registered as migrants. This is almost three million more than a year earlier. The number of issued residence permits increased by 30,000, temporary residence permits - by almost 39,000.

In July, the President simplified the procedure of issuing Russian passports for residents of the people's republics of Donbass and Ukraine. Earlier, residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine were granted the right to apply for a Russian passport under a simplified procedure.
